Taoiseach to be awarded Honorary Degree in Scotland
The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern today travels to Scotland where he will be awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws from Kings College, University of Aberdeen.
The University is one of the oldest educational institutions in Scotland and was a founding member of the Irish-Scottish Academic Initiative, which is active in deepening the scholarly and cultural links between Ireland and Scotland.
University of Aberdeen is also home to the Research Institute of Irish and Scottish Studies, the first institution of its kind in the world for graduate study and research on the history, language, literature and culture of Ireland and Scotland.
