McDowell publishes legislation to tackle organised crime

Justice Minister Michael McDowell has published proposed legislation giving the Gardaí sweeping new powers to tackle organised crime.

The Criminal Justice Bill give the Gardaí increased powers in relation the issuing of search warrants, the detention of suspects, and the taking of saliva samples.
