Govt announces housing plan for rent allowance recipients

The Government has announced plans to make local authorities responsible for meeting the long-term housing needs of people currently receiving rent allowance.

The Fianna Fáil/Progressive Democrats coalition said the system would be introduced on phased basis from September.
