Woman's body found in house in Cavan town

The body of a woman has been found at a house in Cavan town.

The discovery was made at Ard na Greine shortly before 4pm this afternoon.

Gardaí have preserved the scene, and have begun their investigation of the circumstances of the death.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is travelling to Cavan to conduct a post mortem.

The house where the find was made is close to the area where a a 14-year-old girl has been missing since last weekend.

Jamie Farrelly-Maughan was last seen walking alone through the town last Saturday evening.

Gardaí were joined by local people in their search of the town and surrounding areas over the last few days.
