The number of Americans claiming Irish ancestry has reportedly dropped significantly.

An analysis by the US Census Bureau found that Irish-Americans made up 11% of the US population in 2000, compared to 16% in 1990.

The bureau said the Irish were the second-largest ethnic group in the United States, behind the Germans.
