Cabinet to re-examine timing of Aer Rianta legislation
The cabinet is reportedly set to re-examine the timing of legislation on the break up of Aer Rianta due to concerns expressed by Fianna Fáil backbenchers.
Reports this morning said the party’s TDs were told last night that the cabinet would examine their demands that the legislation be postponed until the autumn.
Speaking about the matter this morning, Pat Carey, a Fianna Fáil TD in Dublin north-west, said he believed the proposed break-up had not been properly debated.
Mr Carey said: “There is a feeling that because this is a quite significant shift in the way the semi-state company is being discharged with its task, it would be helpful if the nuances of the debate were teased out more carefully at committee level for example.”
