Trócaire reiterates appeal for aid in western Sudan

The Irish aid agency Trócaire has reiterated its appeal for urgent international aid for the people of Darfur in western Sudan.

More than three million people have been ethnically cleansed from their land in the region by militias allegedly supported by the Arab-dominated Sudanese government.

Trócaire said the conflict in Darfur had prevented people from planting crops and hundreds of thousands were now facing starvation unless they received emergency aid from the international community.
