Rescuers recover bodies of missing Waterford men

Rescuers have recovered the bodies of the two 24-year-old men who have been missing off the coast of Co Waterford for almost two days.

Gerard Shannon and Owen Barry had not been seen since they entered the water near Ballydowane in the Bunmahon area on Sunday evening.

They were reported missing by a third man who was rescued off rocks in the area.

Rough seas hampered the search yesterday, but it resumed at first light this morning and the bodies of the two men were recovered a number of hours later.

It is believed the men went for a swim after Waterford won the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final.
