Irish immigrants' plight awaits new president

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen, has nothing can be done in the US to deal with the plight of illegal Irish immigrants until after the presidential election.

Thousands of immigrants who failed to take up green cards in the late 1980s have been unable to return home to Ireland.
