IAWM plans anti-Bush poster drops
The Irish Anti-War Movement is organising a series of banner drops across Dublin to highlight their protest plans for the visit of George W Bush.
The posters read "Stop Bush- Friday 7pm Parnell Sq" and will be dropped from at 5.30pm today.
This is one of a series of events that the IAWM is organising in the run up to the Bush protests on Friday at 7pm in Parnell Square in Dublin.
Stop Bush posters have been banned in the city.
Rory Hearne, National Organiser of the IAWM said “Our posters are being systematically torn down by Dublin City Council.
"The government and establishment want to avoid embarrassing protests when the war-monger Bush comes here on Friday and Saturday.
"They know that the majority of Irish people do not want Bush to be welcomed and tens of thousands want to protest.
"Stopping us from letting people know where and when the protests are on is one of their tactics to stop the anti-war movement. If these banners are torn down by the city council or gardaí it will be another infringement of civil rights."
