Taoiseach confident of Treaty ratification

The Taoiseach earned his place in EU history yesterday after successfully negotiating an agreement on a constitution for the European Union in Brussels.

Bertie Ahern last night spoke of the significance of the treaty for all the citizens of the EU, referring in particular to its provisions in relation to fundamental rights, and the general principles of the Union.
