Information Commissioner Emily O’Reilly has urged the Government to rethink its decision to introduce charges for requests made under the Freedom of Information Act.

Ms O’Reilly said today that a study conducted by her office had revealed that the charges had led to a sharp drop-off in requests by the public and the media since they were introduced last summer.
