Ahern to get honorary degree

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is to receive an honorary degree from Aberdeen University, it was revealed today.

Mr Ahern will be awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) at the university’s summer graduation ceremonies next month.

Scottish actor Iain Glen will also receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the university.

The screen and stage star, who is a former student of the university, was most recently seen in the television series Glasgow Kiss.

He also appeared in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and on stage with Hollywood star Nicole Kidman in The Blue Room.
