Armed raiders stage robbery on security van
Two armed men have escaped with a large sum of money following a raid on a security van in Co Louth this morning.
The van was making a delivery to an ATM on Marrion Park in Drogheda when the two men approached at around 10.40am.
One of the security van staff was struck with a hammer during the robbery, though his injuries are not believed to be serious.
The two raiders, one of who was armed with a shotgun, fled with a large sum of money in a white 4x4 vehicle that was found abandoned a short time later on the Platton Road.
Gardaí said they may have been joined by a third person at that stage and may have escaped in a brown car that was seen leaving the area.
