SIPTU’s civil aviation branch is meeting in Dublin today to discuss the Government’s plans to break Aer Rianta into three competing entities.

Union president Jack O’Connor has been invited to attend the meeting to update the 3,000-strong branch about efforts to secure assurances from the Government about the future of Aer Rianta jobs.

Meanwhile, SIPTU members at CIE are also meeting today to discuss the Government’s plans to break up that company and privatise 25% of bus services in Dublin.

The National Bus and Railworkers Union has already decided to ballot its members on strike action over the plans.
