Conference highlights plight of separated fathers

The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland organisation is hosting a conference in Dublin today to highlight the plight of fathers who are estranged from their children.

The organisation has claimed that Irish family law discriminates against fathers and in favour of mothers in cases relating to custody and access rights.

It has claimed that unmarried and separated fathers are at constant risk of suicide because of the way they are treated by society and has also described the separation of children from their fathers as a form of child abuse.
