McGuinness, Cassells look certain for seats

No firm figures are yet available for the East constituency European election seats, but Fine Gael's Mairéad McGuinness and Labour's Peter Cassells look certain to take seats.

Most party activists are still at their local count centres, so the atmosphere is somewhat muted att he European elections count.

The first count details should be known around 8pm tonight, with the official announcement of seats expected at about 9pm.

There is still uncertainty about whether Seamus Kerr or Liam Aylward will take a seat for Fine Fáil.
