The Irish Payment Services Organisation has advised bank customers to dispose of sensitive documents carefully in order to combat growing "identity theft".

The Irish Payment Services Organisation has advised bank customers to dispose of sensitive documents carefully in order to combat growing "identity theft".

The organisation said the phenomenon of criminals using discarded credit card slips or bank statements to buy goods online or apply for loans was growing across the EU.
