Jesuits call for immigration policy review
The Jesuit Order has called on the Government to review immigration policy before reviewing the Constitution.
The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice has said that the Government must learn to accept the children of non-nationals, many of whom were invited here to work.
The Centre has called for a "No" vote in the referendum on citizenship as no effective policy on how to deal with asylum seekers and other immigrants has been put in place.
"The Government has not demonstrated how this Constitutional change connects with any broader immigration legal framework," stated the Director of the Jesuit social research arm, Eugene Quinn.
