A Green Party local election candidate in Dublin has been hospitalised after injuring herself while canvassing for votes.

Pauline O’Shea, a first-time candidate in the South East Inner City ward, slipped and struck her head on granite steps while canvassing in the Portobello area of the city on Monday.

She was admitted to St. Vincent’s Hospital on Wednesday suffering from concussion and facial bruising.

She will be held for observation and tests until early next week.
