Amnesty report released in Dublin
Governments and armed groups are destroying the human rights of ordinary people, an Amnesty International report will reveal today.
The human rights group’s annual report will detail the most sustained attack on human rights and international humanitarian law in the last half a century.
The report, which covers 157 countries, will outline how violence by armed groups and increasing violations by governments have combined to create this alleged attack.
Professor William A Schabas, director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights at National University of Ireland in Galway, will speak at the launch in Dublin.
Today’s report is the latest in a series of in-depth studies from the human rights supporter.
It sparked controversy earlier this month when it accused coalition forces of killing civilians which had posed no threat to them in Iraq.
