MIBI announces new rules governing compensation claims

The organisation responsible for compensating victims of untraced and uninsured motorists in Ireland has announced new measures to crack down on fraudulent claims.

The organisation responsible for compensating victims of untraced and uninsured motorists in Ireland has announced new measures to crack down on fraudulent claims.

The Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland said the measures included a requirement for claimants to report any accident involving an untraced or uninsured motorist to the gardaí within two days of the accident happening.

It said the claimants would also have to make themselves available for interview by MIBI investigators.

The MIBI said the new measures would help speed up genuine claims.
