FG proposes reduced tribunal legal costs

Fine Gael is proposing a tendering process for tribunal solicitors that would cut the cost of tribunals to the taxpayer.

The recommendation is included in amendments to the Commissions of Investigations Bill, which will be debated at committee stage later this week.

Fine Gael’s Justice spokesman, Jim O’Keefe, said the bill as it stands does not adequately tackle the issue of costs.
