Armed and masked gang shoot man in Carlow

A man is recovering in hospital after he was shot in the leg at his home in Carlow overnight.

A number of armed masked men broke into the house at The Laurels At 4.30am today. They went upstairs and shot the 24-year old victim in the leg.

He was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny for treatment.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination which will take place later today.
