Two masked men rob National Aquatic Centre

There has been an armed robbery at the National Aquatic Centre in Blanchardstown.

Two armed and masked men held up a security van and made away with an undisclosed sum of cash.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm this afternoon when a black Mazda pulled up to the centre with two masked and armed men inside.

The pair held up a security van, which was collecting money from the centre and forced the security team to hand over two to three steel boxes of cash.

They made their getaway onto the M50 heading north.

On the motorway, the men then threw one of the boxes, which was filled with dye, out of the window of the car.

They headed to Ballymun, where the car has been found abandoned.

Gardaí say no one was injured in the raid and no arrests have been made.
