De Rossa slams Govt attitude to working time directive

The Labour Party has claimed that 70,000 Irish people are being overworked because of the Government’s failure to implement the EU’s working time directive.

The Labour Party has claimed that 70,000 Irish people are being overworked because of the Government’s failure to implement the EU’s working time directive.

Party spokesman Pronsias de Rossa said junior doctors, airline cabin crews, fishermen and ferry workers were among the thousands whose working week exceeded 48 hours.

Mr de Rossa said the Government had no excuse for failing to implement the working time directive as it had been on the EU agenda for more than 13 years.
