Gardaí in Co Louth have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of another man in Dundalk on Christmas Eve.

Gardaí in Co Louth have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of another man in Dundalk on Christmas Eve.

The man was detained at his home in Dundalk today in connection with the murder of 59-year-old Laurence Garvey, who died following an assault on Patrick Street in the early hours of December 24.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
