Man remanded on son murder charge

A Dublin man accused of murdering his 12-year-old son was remanded in custody today.

A Dublin man accused of murdering his 12-year-old son was remanded in custody today.

John Carroll (aged 48), of Bayview Rise, Killiney, was charged with the murder of Andrew Carroll, who was found dead at the same address.

Counsel for Carroll, Jenny McGeever, presented Judge William Earley at Dun Laoghaire District Court with a report from a doctor, Damien Mohan, giving consent for a four-week remand.

Mr Carroll did not appear in court.

Andrew Carroll was found dead at his family home in South Dublin last Friday night.

His father appeared at a special court sitting the following day.

State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy carried out a post-mortem on the body at Loughlinstown Hospital.
