An Air Corps pilot has died in a place crash in Co Offaly.

An Air Corps pilot has died in a place crash in Co Offaly.

His light aircraft came down shortly after take off from the airfield at Clonbulloge.

The man, who was in his early 20s, was the sole occupant of the four-seater Cessna aircraft.

The Irish Parachute Club runs an airfield near the village, which is often used for training by the Aer Corps.
