Fire authority gets lukewarm welcome from chiefs

The Chief Fire Officers Association has given a cautious welcome to plans to establish a National Fire Authority.

The Chief Fire Officers Association has given a cautious welcome to plans to establish a National Fire Authority.

The recommendation is in a review of fire services and fire safety and is being brought to the cabinet by the Minister for the Environment, Martin Cullen.

The Chief Fire Officers have expressed concern about some of the conditions attached to the proposal.
