A new organisation to promote diversity and gender equality in the fire service has been launched at the annual conference of Chief Fire Officers today.

An urgent review is needed relating to regulations concerning the fire risk of timber-framed buildings under construction, fire chiefs in the UK have said.

The Chief Fire Officers Association has given a cautious welcome to plans to establish a National Fire Authority.
