DUP hits out at archbishop's comments

The Democratic Unionist Party has criticised comments made by the Catholic archbishop of Armagh in a speech in London last night.

Dr Sean Brady criticised the British government for failing to properly address the issue of security force collusion with loyalist paramilitaries and to establish an inquiry into the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane.

The DUP’s Ian Paisley Jnr claimed Dr Brady’s comments would “send a chill down the spine of any decent-thinking Protestant” and would harm relations between the police and community.

He also accused the archbishop of taking the Sinn Féin/IRA line on policing issues.
