Cancer alliance criticical of radiotherapy policies

The Cancer Care Alliance has reiterated its criticism of the Government’s policy of concentrating radiotherapy services in a small number of centres.

The alliance said the policy discriminated against cancer patients who live far from the centres in Dublin, Cork and Galway.

The alliance, which has devised alternative proposals for improving radiotherapy services, said people in all areas deserved equal access to such services and the same standard of cancer care.
