Dáil watchdog to investigate whether Collins breached ethics rules

The Standards in Public Office Commission has announced its intention to investigate whether former Fianna Fáil TD Michael Collins breached Dáil ethics legislation.

Mr Collins resigned from the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party last September after making a €130,000 settlement with the Revenue Commissioners.

The investigation into the matter comes just two days after Mayo TD Beverly Flynn was expelled from the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party for encouraging investors to evade tax while she worked for National Irish Bank.
