Peamount to retain medical director

Peamount Hospital has agreed to reverse its decision to terminate the contract of its medical director, Professor Luke Clancy.

Mr Clancy had taken legal action against the hospital after it announced the decision earlier this year.

However, the two sides have now settled the dispute.

Under the terms of the settlement, Prof Clancy and Peamount’s senior medical director, Dr Paul Kelly, will both retain their jobs, while the hospital has also agreed to appoint a new consultant respiratory physician.

The Green Party has welcomed the settlement, describing it as “fantastic news” for people campaigning for the retention of TB services at Peamount.
