IAWM planning sustained campaign against Iraq occupation

The Irish Anti-War Movement has said it intends to launch a sustained campaign of protest against the US invasion of Iraq in the run-up to US President George W Bush’s visit to Ireland in June.

The IAWM said it intended to use this weekend’s anti-EU demonstrations in Dublin as the starting point for a sustained campaign of opposition to the occupation of Iraq.

Speaking at a press conference in Dublin today, Glenda Cimino, a spokeswoman for US Citizens for Alternatives to War and member of the IAWM, said the recently published photos of US soldiers mistreating Iraqi prisoners showed the depravity of the war.
