Rabbitte criticises McDowell’s absence from Dáil

Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte has severely criticised Justice Minister Michael McDowell for failing to turn up in the Dáil today to discuss the Government’s planned citizenship referendum.

Mr Rabbitte said Mr McDowell’s absence reduced the debate on the referendum to a farce and made a mockery of his own promise to listen to opposition concerns about the proposed constitutional amendment.
