DUP criticises plan to close PSNI stations
The Democratic Unionist Party has criticised plans to close a significant number of police stations in line with recommendations from Policing Oversight Commissioner Al Hutchinson.
The DUP claimed the recommendation that older, barracks-style police station be closed down was naïve and politically motivated.
The party also said that Mr Hutchinson’s request for unionists to drop their objection to the 50:50 Catholic-Protestant PSNI recruitment policy showed that he was a naive outsider who was more interested in promoting a political agenda than ensuring effective policing.
