A Co Galway man admitted the manslaughter of another man in Ballinasloe last year when he appeared at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin today.

Christopher McLoughlin (aged 20), of Curragh Park, Ballinasloe pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Daniel O' Neill (aged 19), of Clontuskert, Ballinsaloe in the town on March 19 last year.

Prosecuting counsel Mr Denis Vaughan Buckley SC said the plea was acceptable to the State.

Defence counsel Mr Martin Giblin SC asked for probation and psychologist reports to be prepared and Mr Justice Carney remanded Mc Loughlin in custody for sentence on May 24 next.
