Robinson launches women's rights report

Former president and UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, Mary Robinson has paid tribute to the work carried out by those responsible for a report on women's human rights.

Former president and UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, Mary Robinson has paid tribute to the work carried out by those responsible for a report on women's human rights.

Mrs Robinson launched the report drawn up by the Women's Rights Alliance, which criticises the Government's lack of action and commitment to the cause.

It claims that very little progress has been made in the past 20 years since Ireland signed CEDAW, the UN Convention on the rights of women.
