O’Cuiv criticises lack of investment in western infrastructure
The Minister for Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has accused the National Roads Authority and Iarnród Eireann of neglecting their obligations to develop road and rail networks in the west.
Éamon Ó Cuív said the two bodies were investing more in developed parts of the country, despite instructions to the contrary from the Government.
He said an analysis he carried out showed that the NRA and Iarnród Eireann spent more money in the southern and eastern regions between 2000 and 2004 than they did in the border, midlands and western regions.
