Paracetamol link to 1-in-3 overdoses in SEHB

A study in the South Eastern Health Board area has found that paracetamol is responsible for almost a third of all overdose patients admitted to A&E departments in the region.

Psychiatric nurses have called on the Government to review the sale of paracetamol products.

At its annual conference in Limerick, the Psychiatric Nurses' Association said paracetamol was a very dangerous drug, which can cause acute liver problems and death.

Although the sale of the drug has been confined to packs of 24 or less, the PNA wants further restrictions imposed.
