Man in court over woman's death
A man was due in court this morning in connection with the death of a 47-year-old woman.
A murder investigation was launched after Janet Chaney died on Wednesday.
An ambulance was called to her home in Oaklands Park, Cox’s Demesne in Dundalk, Co Louth, but she was pronounced dead just over an hour later at Louth County Hospital.
A post-mortem revealed numerous marks on her body were consistent with an attack.
The 43-year-old man was charged with assault last night. He was due before Dundalk District Court.
Ms Chaney lived at home with her partner. Her three grown-up children are thought to live in the UK.
