More time to quiz man over Megan murder
Detectives were tonight given more time to question a man about the murder of a teenage girl near Belfast.
The man was arrested by officers investigating the killing of Megan McAlorum, 16, whose body was found close to a quarry overlooking the city.
A police service spokeswoman confirmed detectives have been given a 12-hour extension to interview him about the murder which has devastated the young victim’s family and thrown an entire community into turmoil.
Megan’s body was discovered after she failed to return to her home in the Lenadoon Estate, West Belfast after an Easter Sunday night out.
The teenager, who had only just left high school, had suffered head injuries.
No post mortem results have been announced yet.
