Govt is scaremongering, say anti-EU protesters
A group involved in the planned anti-EU protests in Dublin next month has accused the Government of spreading false fears of violence and riots at the demonstrations.
The group, Another Europe is Possible, have called on the public to ignore the hype and participate in what it insisted would be a peaceful protest against the policies of the EU.
Speaking at a press conference in Dublin today, Green Party MEP Patricia McKenna said the scare stories about violent protestors were an attempt to stop people from taking to the streets during the EU enlargement summit on May 1 and the planned visit by US President George W Bush in June.
