McDowell listens to AGSI paedophile debate
Justice Minister Michael McDowell said today that he would listen to debate on calls for information on convicted paedophiles to be made available to the public.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors will debate the controversial motion at its annual conference this week.
The motion has been proposed by the Wexford/Wicklow branch of the association, but is apparently opposed by the group’s national executive.
Minister McDowell said he would have reservations about such a policy, but was prepared to listen to the debate.
Around 200 delegates are expected to attend the AGSI conference, which takes place in Cork over the next three days.
