Martin urged to overturn Peamount decision on TB patient

Fine Gael TD Olivia Mitchell has called on Health Minister Micheál Martin to overturn a decision by Dublin’s Peamount Hospital not to admit a highly-infectious TB patient.

Doctors at the Mater Hospital wanted to transfer the eastern European man to Peamount, but management at the national specialist referral centre for TB blocked the move.

Ms Mitchell has described the decision as "daft" and called on Mr Martin to intervene immediately.
