Video promotes farming among schoolchildren

A video has been launched to promote awareness of food and farming among primary school pupils.

The project has been undertaken by Agri-Aware and sponsored by the Department of Agriculture.

The tape, called "Agriculture “Cool or What?" has been sent to over 3,000 schools around the country.

Agri-Aware Chairman, TJ Maher said: “It is aimed at the education of young people and the importance of the role of agriculture in Irish life.

"There is a myriad of job opportunities, everything from the farmers to the vet and all the way up to the minister are available. It is in the modern musical entertainment animated fashion and it is aimed at third and fourth class pupils.”
