Rise in violent crimes against tourists
A report, which was has been released today, has shown the main crime against tourists in Ireland is theft.
The Tourist Victim Support Service helped more than 600 people last year with larceny accounting for 53% of the cases.
The study also shows a rise in the number of violent crimes against tourists in 2003.
The service co-ordinator Lisa Kennedy says most cases are in the capital: “61% of the cases were from Dublin county and the remained came from outside of Dublin, mostly Wicklow, Cork and Galway, which would be the tourist hotspots.”
