PSNI ‘to bring charges against Omagh bomb suspect’
The PSNI is reportedly on the verge of charging a suspected dissident republican with offences directly linked to the 1998 Omagh bombing.
Reports this morning said senior PSNI officers, helped by the Gardaí, were making a major effort to compile a case against the suspect, who is currently serving a prison sentence in the Republic.
The PSNI officers are reportedly preparing a file on the man for the North’s Director of Public Prosecutions based on evidence gathered on both sides of the border.
Once the file is completed, the DPP must decide whether the evidence is strong enough to warrant charges.
